Positivism has not only provided the standard method of scientific research — it spread as a global movement. France, Great Britain, Poland, Brazil and Turkey witnessed strong positivist movements in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Brazilian flag bears Comte's motto "Order and Progress". Positivist temples, devoted to the worship of humanty, were built in major cities. Some still operate and offer opportunities to meet positivists of the original Comtean movement.
